Dutch Cancer Society (DCS) awarded Mirjam Belderbos (ERIBA)

25 June 2014

Mirjam Belderbos, postdoctoral researcher in the group of Gerald de Haan, and pediatrician in training, was awarded a stipend for clinician scientists of the Dutch Cancer Society (KWF). The aim of this stipend is to stimulate clinician scientists in setting up their own research line during their clinical residency.

The project aims to characterize the clonal diversity of pediatric acute leukemia using cellular barcoding. The researchers hypothesize that pediatric acute leukemia consists of multiple genetically and functionally diverse clones, and that patients with a high degree of clonal diversity are at increased risk of chemotherapeutic resistance and disease relapse.
