Groningen Team wins a prize at BioHack 2019!

The RUG-ERIBA team (RNA Torch) received an award at the bioinformatics hackathon held in Saint Petersburg, Russia. The hackathon was organized by EPAM (www.epam.com) and Bioinformatics Institute-Saint Petersburg (http://bioinformaticsinstitute.ru/en). Over 400 students registered for the event. Teams consisting of biologists and programmers participated in the event to solve one of 40 problems in the field of Bioinformatics within 48 hours. The RNA-Torch team was awarded a prize (out of five prizes) for the development of an algorithm for efficient mapping and identification of inserts of medium length in transcriptome data (RNA-seq).
