Scientists from ERIBA contributed to 3D atlas of gene expression patterns

Victor Guryev and Eugene Berezikov, Principal Investigators from ERIBA, contributed to the development of a new technique, called tomo-seq, to map the spatial expression patterns of all genes in an embryo at the same time.

The results of this research collaboration between Hubrecht Institute in Utrecht, USC Keck School of Medicine, the Max Plack Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics and ERIBA were published in Cell this week. The authors describe how tomo-seq allows displaying 3D expression patterns of all genes. The discovery of tomo-seq is a breakthrough in a search for factors that are important in development, ageing and cancer.
