University of Groningen climbs again in Top 100
The University of Groningen, ERIBA’s “alma mater”, has again climbed up an important Top 100 ranking list. In the QS World University Rankings, the University is now in 90th place, seven places higher than last year (97th). This improvement is due to the higher percentage of international students and a better score on academic citations per faculty.
A month ago the news was announced that the University of Groningen had managed to climb ten places in the prestigious Academic Ranking of World Universities (often called the Shanghai ranking), from 92nd to 82nd place. President of the Board of the University Sibrand Poppema is very pleased with the result: ‘Our new ranking means that the efforts of our academics and our reputation across the world are being appreciated more and more. This Top 100 ranking is a very important tool in recruiting international students and researchers, and it will also provide new opportunities for fundraising for research.’ The ARWU (Shanghai) and QS ranking lists are considered to be the most influential in the world.
The worldwide ranking list of best universities is headed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard University in the US and the University of Cambridge in the UK.
