The regenerative flatworm Macrostomum lignano, a model organism with high experimental potential

This review by the Berezikov Group is published in the special “Regeneration” issue of The International Journal of Developmental Biology. It presents the free-living flatworm model Macrostomum lignano and discusses the recent progress in the development of genomic tools, such as robust methods of transgenesis. Moreover, the review illustrates the value of this model for studying various research questions related to stem cell biology, regeneration, ageing, and genome maintenance.
